Best Exercise Bike for Tall People - Tall Review
I’m am a taller guy at 6’2” and was looking for a sit down exercise bike that actually works for taller people. After searching everywhere and reading way too many reviews, I finally took a chance on the Marcy ME-709 Recumbent Exercise Bike. Honestly, I couldn’t be happier. This bike is a perfect fit for me and I’m confident it would work for anyone up to 6’7” or even 6’8” (See Video). What really stands out is how comfortable it is to ride being tall. A lot of exercise bikes don’t leave enough leg room for taller riders, but this one gives me full extension without feeling cramped. The seat is supportive, the backrest makes it easy on my lower back, and the pedals are well positioned. Setup was easy and I had it put together in under an hour with no problems. It’s also completely silent when riding, so I can use it early in the morning or late at night without disturbing anyone (3rd floor apartment). The bike is compact too, not taking up much space, which is a big plus. Other reasons I recommend the Marcy ME-709: Adjustable resistance so you can go from an easy spin to a harder workout Sturdy build that feels solid, even at my height Clear display for time, speed, distance, and calories Affordable price compared to other sit down exercise bikes (The best price and value from over a month of searching) If you’re a taller person looking for a sit down exercise bike, the Marcy ME-709 is absolutely worth it. Easy to assemble, quiet, comfortable, and with plenty of room for long legs, it checks every box I was looking for.

Affordable High Quality Recumbent Bike!
Long review, please read to the end of you're thinking about buying one of these bikes: So, just purchased this bike. I know it well as this one is replacing the same bike I purchased back in April 2013! The old one got heavily used over the past decade, in fact I flipped the Odometer 4 times! The bike was a big help to me as during that time I lost a total of 160lbs, the first 100lbs was by adjusting my diet alone after a while I plateaued, and it was recommended to me to add some cardio workouts to my life. I'm not into too going to the gym so I opted for at home equipment. This bike was what I selected and it really helped me to breakthrough and lose another 60lbs. I continued to use it on and off over the years. The old one still works, however the seat bracket cracked, seat is still on its just loose. Unfortunately, I gained back a good portion of the weight and being 10 years older in my late 50s now I've opted for weight loss surgery. That being said, I was advised once again to have some post surgery activities lined up, ones that I enjoy. I didn't give it a second thought, I hopped on Amazon, shopped some other brands and styles and settled on the Marcy ME709 for a second time! I mean, I used the crap out of the first one with no issues, the price was only slightly higher. So here I am 10 years later with a brand new one! It's virtually the same, they did upgrade the computer, it's easier to reset and the digits have a cool green glow now versus the LCD style the old one had. If you're on the fence buy this bike!!! It is super durable, great quality and very affordable, and not hard to assemble. Shout out to the Marcy Fitness folks, thank you for still making these available!

Very sturdy and nice
Very good for the price. Sturdy metal body, bright and clean LED monitor is easy to read, comfy chair, big dial to control magnetic resistance. Easy to assemeble. Only thing negative is the plastic cover. It's a bit flimsy. lf you lean on it or push it, it will bent or crack.

Quality Product
This was well-packaged and the instructions were very clear about the assembly. My only concern, which was very minor, is that the wrench provided was not bent to a sufficient angle to avoid tearing the seat material when tightening the frontmost nut for the seat. It just needed an eighth of an inch to do it perfectly. My only other difficulty came when I was tightening the screws to secure the handlebars to the front post. There was plenty of thread in the post but it took more and more effort to turn the screws. I finally had to resort to adding the wrench to the Allen wrench to get enough leverage to fully tighten the screws. This problem could have been avoided had I used a thread chaser or tap to clear the threads in the front post. Otherwise, everything went smoothly. I inspected the pedal arm where the pedals are screwed into to see if it looked more substantial than my last bike which had the pedal arm break at the hole. This one had more metal and seems to be made in a stronger design. Plus, this time, I checked that the bike was rated for my weight. It honestly looks as though it is truly rated for 300 pounds. This is the first exercise bike that I have had that used magnetic resistance and I am very satisfied with its operation. The tension knob is calibrated and marked and features detents to make the tension choice precise. Then I was very surprised at how absolutely silent this bike operated. Not just quiet, but no sound whatsoever. And because I have to been able to get the proper amount of tension, my workout time has been shortened because I have to exert more effort during my fast-pedaling routines, thus getting me worked out better. I can now rest assured that my doctor's recommendation for my exercise routine will have the desired effect. I had never worked out before but upon examination, my doctor told me that he wanted me to go for a few minutes at a regular speed; then go for a minute at the best speed that I could muster; then repeat the sequence. This recommendation was because my heart's recovery rate was sub-optimal. With this bike, now I know that I am getting the proper work-out. And I feel that this bike will last a long time because it does not rely on friction to provide resistance. I am really happy with this purchase.

Perfect Exercise Bike on a Budget!
** EXCELLENT bike for the cost! I had been looking into buying an exercise bike for a couple of months, but I couldn't decide on which one! I saw that the Marcy Mag Cycle was only $125 on Amazon. I made sure to read as many reviews as I could because I thought the price was way too low. After reading reviews on Amazon and on other websites, I was confident that this bike was the right choice. I ordered it for $125, and the VERY NEXT DAY, the price went up to $200!!!! Now, it's $150. I bought it at the right time, lucky me! I have Amazon Prime, so I ordered it with the free 2-day shipping. It arrived at my house 2-3 weeks later, but earlier than the original expected delivery date. The packaging was fine, no problems. Unwrapping everything was a pain, but easily doable. Assembly: I am a 23 year old female, 120 pounds, and I was able to assemble this BY MYSELF. REPEAT: BY MYSELF. The directions recommend having 2 people assemble it, but I did it without a problem in 2 hours. I could have done it more quickly, BUT there was something wrong with one part - the computer wire was too short, so I had to literally manipulate this one part with a wrench. It's hard to explain without pictures, but let's just say whoever made that part did a horrible job. It made the assembly take 30 minutes longer than it should have. Despite all this, everything works fine. Exercise: -I started sweating after 10 minutes on Setting 2!!! One thing I was worried about when purchasing this bike was the level of resistance. I wondered if the resistance levels would be enough to give me a good workout. I couldn't believe how great the resistance on this bike is!!! At the gym, I would do Level 3-4, but on this bike, I break a sweat on Level 2... and then I change it to Level 3 when I want to work even harder. -This isn't the sturdiest bike ever... as in the front of the bike moves from side to side A BIT when I'm using it, but this may be because I'm using it on carpet. -This bike is SUPER SUPER QUIET. I watch TV while on it, and no one is disturbed or annoyed by that (except maybe by my panting). I LOOOOVE the lack of noise coming from the bike. "Computer:" -I keep it on the time setting. I don't trust the calories lost setting, so I never look at it. Distance is also a useful setting. -I noticed that when you stop pedaling, it takes 2-3 seconds for the clock to pause. I think it's very handy that the timer knows when to pause. People on the Bike: -My dad (5'9"), my mom (5'3"), and I (5'4") have no problem using this bike comfortably. My sister (5'2") cannot use it comfortably due to her height. She has to scoot forward in the seat, which makes it difficult to remain comfortable. -My dad tried Resistance 6 or 7 and quickly changed to Level 3. This shows you how awesome the resistance is. OVERALL THOUGHTS: -YES, I recommend this product to anyone on a budget. For less than $200, this is seriously a steal!! I hope this bike lasts a long time because I love it.

Perfect for my home gym!
Fantastic exercise bike! Great for the price, and it fits fantastic in my home gym! Some of these bike are HUGE and do the exact same (if not a little bit worse) than his bike! For the price, you just can't beat this model! Easy assembly and delivers in a nice compact box. I love the adjustable size as well! I am a big 6' 5" tall guy and this easily fits me! I am overall happy with this product! Pros - Ships in nice compact box - Easy assembly. All tools that were needed came with it. It took me approximately 30 minutes to put it together with the great instructions and pictures. - Sleek design, looks great! - Size is wonderful! Fits nicely in a corner for a home office or bedroom, yet I use it in my home gym and it doesn't take up much room at all. - I'm not sure what size person this would accommodate but as stated I am very tall and it still has more room to adjust. I'm not sure on the other end of the spectrum of height though. My wife at 5' 4" can ride with ease but not sure how a shorty would do. - Simple height adjustment with the pull and turn of a knob. - Simple resistance adjustment with the turn of a knob. - Nice LCD screen makes counting calories, time, mileage, etc. a breeze. - I didn't even notice until my 7 year old son pointed out after watching me drag it to the corner that it has turning wheels on one size! They spin and roll with ease now that he spotted them! Great! Cons - The seat could be a bit more comfy. I don't have a problem with it but it hurts my wife's bum after a while. Most exercise bikes have this problem and I am used to it. I honestly think this is one of the better seats I have used but a simple gel seat cover would remedy this problem pretty quickly. - The handle bars are a bit forward so this bike is meant to be ridden comfortably leaning forward. I like this style but some older folks may not like the lean. This cannot be adjusted, however you can just hold on to the top of the bars if desired. Overall a great purchase for my home gym! I am 100% satisfied with this product so far and glad I chose this one over some of the more expensive models.

QC on assembly instructions; Stability concern
Props to Amazon Prime shipping. I ordered this and received it within 2 days. The box had 6 hard plastic straps, so I was able to drag the box inside & up a flight of stairs without help. I unpacked all the pieces. This bike was packed very well. As a detail-oriented individual, I noted only 1 piece had broken through its packaging & that piece caused no visual damage. Another packaging compliment: the hardware required for assembly was very well packaged and clearly identified IAW assembly instructions. I read reviews that said it took a couple guys 20 mins to assemble. I was very deliberate & assembled on my own as a single female. It took me about 2 hours, notably trying not to damage my hardwood floor. I also read a review that indicated the manufacturer included extra washers. Not the case. Rather, the instructions have a few typos. 1. Pg 6 says "(in bold) Do not tighten nuts and bolts until instructed to do so". Only assembly instruction 1 tells you exactly when to tighten them, so for the rest of the instructions, tighten as you go. You won't be instructed. Step #2, pg 7 says "secure the front post to the main frame with 4...bolts and 3...curved washers". You obviously need a washer with every bolt. You won't have extras, just follow common sense here vice instructions. When you attach the seat base, you may run into 1 Allen bolt that refuses to engage. Not sure what the deal was with this. No issues with the other 3. Other than one other minor fame vs frame misspelling, step 1G will have you"attach the M8 leverage knob on the floor completely to stabilize the bike before exercising ". There is no rational or practical way to attach the knob ON the floor, as far as I can tell, you screw it into the base frame of the bike. I have triple-tightened every piece of connecting hardware on the bike, yet it's somewhat unstable. When I pedal, the seat rocks slightly forward & backward with the motions of my pedals. Otherwise, this bike seems a good value for the cost. Money was not as big a factor for me as simplicity & ability to assemble & move the thing alone. Assembly was not terrible nor cumbersome, just think perhaps the instructions could use some quality control. The computer seems also to occasionally skip the calories option, so all you have to do is scroll back through to get to it. In summary, this bike will help in getting more fit & burn calories, however the rocking instability seems to stem from the frame connection at the length adjustment knob and I haven't identified a solution to this as yet. UPDATE 3/8/17: have had this bike for a couple weeks... cycled less than "400 calories" on the meter. There is a ticking noise that has developed in the wheel well (for lack of a better term). Since the whole thing is closed off, I have no idea what is causing the noise. If I pedal faster, the noise goes away until I slow down. Overall, I think this bike was overrated. Reduced to 3 stars from 4 because it still works.
