will it keep my other strings in tune during a low e bend?

No, with any tremolo that doesn't have a way to switch it from free-floating to locked in a fixed position, bending one string will cause the others to go out of tune slightly.

Is this compatible with floyd r8 nut? i don't want to encounter intonation problems. thanks!

The tremolos and locking nuts are sold separately so you can find the correct nut for your guitar. You can use the GE-1996T with your existing locking nut, or buy a Gotoh locking nut of the correct size separately.

Is this a great and or better replacement for a Floyd 1000 series? And will it fit?

Yes, I've replaced two Floyd Rose Specials and one Jackson licensed Floyd Rose with a Gotoh GE-1996T. The base plate size is the same, but there are two areas you need to be concerned about: the sustain block length and the size of the routed cavity for the string clamp bolts in the back. For some reason, most of the Gotohs I find online have the 40mm sustain block where the springs attach in the back. On some guitars, this is too long and you won't be able to put the back plate on. In a very thin guitar it may even stick out the back slightly. Measure your current sustain block to be sure the Gotoh will fit your guitar. The next issue is to measure how far back the routed cavity extends. With the intonation set correctly, the string clamp bolt hit the back of the cavity on one of my guitars. I had to move it in slightly to make it fit, so my low E string isn't perfectly intonated. On the other two that wasn't an issue.

Will this drop into an ibanez rg 470? any mods need to be done?

This will not fit the RG470 because this 40mm block is too long. It will stick out the back of the guitar. You need the 33mm block model. I had to source it on EBay and was a comparable price. It is a perfect fit. Everything between the 2 are identical except the block length.

Gotoh is the real deal.

Made my whole guitar pop, swapped out from a floyd rose special that had the zinc baseplate and pivot posts. Those were fine until they weren’t, and my guitar wouldn’t come back to zero. This is the most stable, quality, and best value aftermarket guitar part I’ve ever used. I did have to drill out the post and hammer the new ones in. USE A RUBBER MALLET OR A DEAD BLOW HAMMER TO SCURE THE NEW POSTS, MAKE SURE TO DRILL THE HOLES STRAIGHT!!! Fit perfectly otherwise, only mods done to the guitar were the new posts. I’d say the install took me under an hour, including running to the hardware store for a wood drill bit. Flutters, dives, and easy tremolos work function flawlessly, all for less than a price of a Floyd rose 1000.

Gotoh is the G.O.A.T.

Replaced all the old faded black hardware on my old LTD with new gold hardware. Looks great and stable as hell. Hardened Steel parts FTW, no zink BS. Huge, HUGE upgrade over the "licensed by" Floyd Rose Trem it used to have. Very happy with this purchase, great product! Ordering a black one now for my Schecter Blue Reign, which unfortunately came with a Floyd Rose Special (Zink Alloy) 🤢

Please specify if it's left or right handed.

Everything is great, except I was shipped a lrft handed variant of this bridge when it was supposed to be a right handed one. Please specify if these are left handed or right handed floating bridges.
