Diamond Sports DCP-IX3 Lightweight Umpire's Chest Protetctor

I have used this chest protector for one season, approximately 60 games. During that time, I only had one 'hit' that was felt. It was between the shoulder cap and the upper extension of the body protector. It was not even close to being debilitating, just a good shot. Any other foul tips were of no consequence. Getting it on and off was not a problem, the clips and straps always seemed to end up in the right position, not twisting etc. I always used the arm extensions and did not have any problem with them. The biggest concern was that it seemed to absorb moisture, and I sweat a lot. Its material was absorbent (took a day to appear dry, don't know if it in fact was on the interior) and as a result had to be washed/rinsed frequently or the 'man smell' was quite obvious. But maybe that should be expected when working 2-3-4 games in 90 degree heat. Would have been nice if the manufacturer would have included recommended cleaning procedures. I just put it on the top rack of the dishwasher and ran it without soap. Seems to have held up and I am getting ready for the second season. Will update this if I notice anything resulting from my washing method.

This is a great chest protector. I have used it for three seasons now, and have yet to take a shot that does any damage. You feel very well protected while wearing this, and it is very light. I wear it with an undershirt, but it seems to wick sweat pretty well. Easy to put on, and doesn't make you look like Robocop when you have it under your shirt.

The product is indeed lightweight, but that's where the positives end. The torso portion is narrow, not enough to cover the sides of an even slightly larger than average person (I'm 5'11', 228). It is also too long, with the lower edge ending up driving into the crotch when you crouch. The snaps look and feel flimsy. The shoulder pads are poorly designed and keep flipping over, even with a shirt over them. The bicep pads, while a nice idea, are way too bulky and make arm movements difficult. They are detachable, but if you take them off, then really, what's the point of buying this particular product when there are comparable ones at considerably less available?

I bought this to ump little league softball games. It fits pretty good. I expected it to be a little less bulky, but it was my first one, so I can't compare it to anything else. I removed the forearm pieces almost immediately. They just didn't feel right to me. I will look at other models when I replace this one. It is pretty light, well constructed, and does what its supposed to do without fail, just doesn't fit me like I thought it should.

Have used this chest protector for two seasons, one rec ball (17 and under) and one adult league. It’s been great. Easy to get on, light weight, and offers good protection.

This is a really good protector. I wore it for several games over the course of a few seasons. Its light but holds up really well. I was drilled a few times but felt like iron man wearing this thing.

Fits perfect love the arm extensions spend the time and adjust it to fit remember you don't want it too tight around the girth. The straps are easily adjusted. It breathes very nicely and takes away the sweat. Great protector!

This product works great and adds the extra protection for taking foul balls. My only complaint is the length. I am in between the chest size and the 4" extension. Would have been nice to have a 2" extension and it would be perfect size. I have worn several other protectors but this one is the best I have worn.
