Of course, there can be nothing foolish about Carmen Cavallaro's piano! The tunes span a period from who knows when "Santa Lucia" but more positively 1880's "Funiculi Funicula", written by Luigi Denza to celebrate the opening of Nes' funicular railway, to the magical compositions of Rodgers and Hammerstein for their 1949 Broadway musical "South Pacific". The melodies of Broadway are well represented by "Alone Together" and "The Most Beautiful Girl In The World" and "Smoke Gets In Your Eyes". Born in New York to Sicilian parents, Carmen Cavallaro showed and interest in the piano from an early age. Despite a classical training, he made his living playing Saturday night dance dates with a variety of bands, the big break coming in 1933 when with the Al Kavelin Orchestra, he took over from Eddy Duchin at New York's Central Park Casino. He became the star attraction and his career blossomed, eventually going solo in 1939. 24 tinkling tracks and over 70 minutes of atmospheric mood music.
