NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER The New York Times -bestselling author of The Brain That Changes Itself presents astounding advances in the treatment of brain injury and illness. Now in an updated and expanded paperback edition. Winner of the 2015 Gold Nautilus Book Award in Science & Cosmology In his groundbreaking work The Brain That Changes Itself , Norman Doidge introduced readers to neuroplasticity--the brain's ability to change its own structure and function in response to activity and mental experience. Now his revolutionary new book shows how the amazing process of neuroplastic healing really works. The Brain's Way of Healin g describes natural, noninvasive avenues into the brain provided by the energy around us--in light, sound, vibration, and movement--that can awaken the brain's own healing capacities without producing unpleasant side effects. Doidge explores cases where patients alleviated chronic pain; recovered from debilitating strokes, brain injuries, and learning disorders; overcame attention deficit and learning disorders; and found relief from symptoms of autism, multiple sclerosis, Parkinson's disease, and cerebral palsy. And we learn how to vastly reduce the risk of dementia, with simple approaches anyone can use. For centuries it was believed that the brain's complexity prevented recovery from damage or disease. The Brain's Way of Healing shows that this very sophistication is the source of a unique kind of healing. As he did so lucidly in The Brain That Changes Itself , Doidge uses stories to present cutting-edge science with practical real-world applications, and principles that everyone can apply to improve their brain's performance and health. Review: Think again about the brain! - A remarkable book that changes the way we look at the brain. It's not, as we have long believed, simply a wasting asset -- a conglomeration of dying cells. The 'in' word these days is 'neuroplasticity', the remarkable ways in which the brain reorganises the team to enable lost functions to be resumed. There are some breathtakingly wonderful stories here. Feast your mind, your heart, your sense of wonder, on this book. Review: Brilliant book - wonderful book! I have the audio version of this too. A must have read for anyone who is interested in the brain. An amazing read. thank you!

Knowledge beyond my stroke recovery team's
This book has helped me to make a full recovery from my severe stroke. Undsrstanding what the brain could do, and was doing, helped me to design everyday activities which helped me recover fine motor skills, and language mastery. Few people realise that I have had stroke.

Brilliant
As usual Norman Doigde is fascinating, informative, very readable for non-experts as well as experts, one wishes to be able to sit down and read from cover to cover in one long go....but for most of us there are other things that take us away from the book, that need our attention....but we will go back to it again and again. The book answers many of my questions and is in my case extremely helpful ......

A lire absolument!
Ce livre n'est pas encore sorti en français, son premier "l'incroyable pouvoir du cerveau" était déjà extraordinaire mais celui-ci est un must! Un livre facile à lire et à comprendre pour un sujet si complexe.
