Well done!! Easy to follow and apply what is taught. Geared towards kids but great for adults.

My ten year old and I are learning coding, and out of the several books I got for Christmas, this book is one of the best (also a yellow book called Coding Games In Scratch is good for learning Scratch coding). This book is so well organized, and I appreciate the meticulousness of all the instructions. So far everything explained in each step works perfectly. So that helps limit frustrations! So if your child is ready to learn html and make a website, this book is perfect for learning each step. And the lessons are fun because there is a story behind the web page creation (such as a scientist finding a rare jewel). Along with html, you will learn CSS and JavaScript. The only minor negative is that it's not spiral bound, so the book can close on you while your hands are busy on the keyboard. I highly recommend this book for learning web-page creation.

Compared to a normal computer coding manual, this one seems short at fewer than 200 pages. But given the audience of 9-12 years old, this is 3-6 months' of material. And it's FUN. The book starts each section with a Mission Brief on some wacky adventure for your kid (and you, if you'd like to help) to tackle. It starts off super basic (no coding experience needed at all), going through very simple HTML pages with minimal styling. But they don't skimp on tough topics, and the thing I like is that the text is simple enough to understand for my 8-year-old, but detailed enough for me to be able to help him. I do know HTML and CSS pretty well, but I've never had to teach it, so I love the way they break down the concepts with longer explanations, cut diagrams, and plenty of annotated code examples. HOW THIS BOOK COMPARES TO OTHER CODING FOR KIDS BOOKS ======================================================== I have used a lot of "python for kids" books (5, to be exact--see my blog at www.learnrichly.com for some very detailed reviews) with my older two kids. For my third-born, who is now 8, I wanted to start him with HTML/CSS/JS instead of Python. This book is somewhat shorter than the best Python titles, but it's geared toward younger kids and I think it does really well. It's not expensive and not too long, so it compares really favorably with the Python books or even the Scratch books (and, let's face it, Scratch isn't a very practical skill compared to web development with HTML and CSS). OVERALL CONCLUSION ======================= Get Coding does a great job of introducing HTML and CSS, but barely scratches the surface of JavaScript. It's still OK, though, because it's a reasonable price for the amount of coverage, and JavaScript would require another book this length anyway, so the brief introduction serves as more of a cliffhanger at the end of the book, prompting you to find another JS title to continue the journey. For that, I recommend "Javascript for Kids" from NoStarch Press. But go ahead and plow through "Get Coding" first!

It pretty good for beginners with step by step programming. Might be a little confusing for some kids because the written directions are a little off.

This book is a great first book for any adult or children that would like to learn how to program. This book is specifically for learning how to do Web Development. Web development means software construction for Web Browsers. A web browser is a program that allows viewing of http sites on the internet. Examples of a Web Browser are Internet Explorer, Chrome, Firefox and Safari. We also know http sites as web sites, for example the site that you are on right now is a Web Site, it was developed by a programmer. This book is for just that: Learning how to be a Web Programmer (or "Web Developer"). This book is different from other html books in that it is geared for the absolute beginner: Whether you are an adult or a child. It has many graphical representations throughout the book which will definitely take the "sting" out of learning how to program. I also recommend once you have read this book, there is another great book that starts where this book leaves off. It is called "CoderDojo Nano: Make Your Own Game: Create With Code". That other book goes into more details of the "canvas" and how to access it using Javascript. Happy programming and keep your calm, with that attitude and this book, you will soon be programming.

I was actually looking for something to explain coding to myself like I’m a 5 year old and ended up working through this book with my 8 year old. I feel like coding makes so much more sense now and the basics are described in a very simple way. There’s so much practice through the book and I was just coming here to check if they have any other good books to learn with.

Actually, I bought the book for myself and not for the children. The lessons are easy and interesting to follow. The book is beautifully illustrated. I would recommend it to everyone.

Came in good condition and on time. The corners are a bit bent but no big deal. Hold for beginners of all ages!

I bought this book as a Christmas gift for my son, who loves computers and anything related to coding. It looks perfect for young beginners — clear, fun, and packed with step-by-step projects. The fact that it teaches HTML, CSS, and JavaScript in a simple way is a big plus. We haven’t gone through all the lessons yet, but overall it seems like a well-designed and engaging book. Great option for kids who are curious about building websites, apps, or games!

This is quite repetitive which will help you get the right habits to code. However, the book contains some coding mistakes and you will get frustrated not being able to finish too many "mission".

Très bon livre en anglais qui mériterait une traduction. J'aime beaucoup ce genre de livre qui va à l'essentiel . En gros vous avez plusieurs missions, et le livre va vous y amener , en partant de rien (un ordi avec un ou plusieurs navigateurs, un éditeur de texte, un accès internet) 1/ Mission1 : faire une page html du html, du css, et vous voilà en pas à pas avec plusieurs notions expliquées et au final une très jolie page web 2/ Mission2 : rajouter un password pour accéder à la page. et vous voila en train de découvrir des notions de javascript 3/ Mission3 : créer une application (avec toujours les mêmes outils) 4/ Mission4 : utiliser les API (ici googlemap) 5/Mission5 : faites un jeu (tout simple avec des cartes à retourner) 6/ Mission6 : créer un site web Le livre est bien illustré, amusant, visant clairement les enfants mais permettant aussi à des adultes réfractaires à l'informatique de se laisser aller à une certaine "simplicité" (objectifs très ciblés et pas de grand cours théorique : on vous explique juste ce qu'il faut pour les atteindre et avoir ensuite envie d'aller + loin) A conseiller En espérant qu'une traduction aura lieu pour pouvoir capter mieux son public
